Excelsior community
Our Community
We believe that the fellowship of believers is very important to the spiritual growth in each one of our lives. Proverbs 27:17 reminds us that “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”
Excelsior prides itself on offering various opportunities for learning outside of the classroom. These experiences not only teach informational knowledge, but also help students build friendships, learn how to work together, and learn how to think critically and problem solve. Parents are able to gain support and know that they are not alone in this journey.
Assemblies
We have different assemblies scheduled throughout the year. We believe that our students should have every opportunity that they would be given in a five-day-a-week school, but with the perspective of a Biblical worldview.
Examples of past assemblies include:
- Missionaries visiting and discussing their experiences and call to ministry.
- Cyber security training for the middle and high school students and parents.
- SC Wildlife presentations including: “Things that go Bump in the Night”
- SC Law Enforcement Division's presentation of their tracking dogs program.
- Students observed Mr. Clifford's helicopter landing, the controls, and taking off.
- Author Mary Morgan presented her book series: “The National Park Mysteries”
- Library Day for our K4-3rd who enjoyed a story time and learned how to check-out books from the library.
- Library Day for our 4th-7th graders who learned about reference materials and using the library database to locate appropriate resources.
Student Events
Our students also enjoy fun events throughout the school year that help build community and friendships.
Examples of past student events include:
- Semesterly visits from The Chilling Cow gourmet ice cream truck.
- Spirit Month in October for students and teachers to represent their favorite teams.
- Market Days in April when students purchase additional treats during lunch.
