The move into high school can feel like a major step for homeschool families. Expectations increase, courses become more demanding, and parents begin thinking more seriously about transcripts, future plans, and academic readiness. But with thoughtful preparation, high school can be a rewarding and confidence-building season.
At Excelsior Academy, our high school offerings are college-preparatory and include honors options. Students may attend classes once or twice weekly, while continuing their homeschool work at home. This gives families a helpful balance of structure, academic challenge, and flexibility.
As students prepare for high school, we encourage families to focus not only on course selection, but also on habits. Can your student manage assignments more independently? Are they growing in responsibility, reading comprehension, writing ability, and class discussion skills? Those habits matter greatly as students move into more advanced work.
High school preparation does not have to begin with fear. It can begin with a plan, steady growth, and the confidence that your student can be equipped for the next stage.
